2/28/10-Harvard High School AFS student Alvaro Lillo Sepulveda’s hometown of Talca, Chile, has been devastated by the earthquake. His family members and family home have survived the most severe earthquake in the world since 1900, and an additional 170+ aftershocks (some as strong as the Haitian earthquake). His own home has no electricity or water and the neighborhood is guarded at night by police to discourage break-ins to the dark houses.
A large percentage of the city has crumbled, hundreds of people have died, friends have lost their homes, streets he walked on to play soccer or get groceries a few months ago, are gone. The damage is so great from the quakes and the tsunamis that aid is difficult to get to the people. They are suffering a huge crisis.
